Noted educationist Ghana Kakoty  passes away

GAURISAGAR: Veteran educationist, social worker and a resident of Gaurisagar Dulia village, Ghana Kakoty passed away on Wednesday at his residence due to old- age ailment. He was 88. Born in 1930, Kakoty started his career as a teacher just after passing his matriculation examination. He served at Laongpotia and Khanakhokora. He also served for a few years in Sericulture and Indian Postal departments. Later, he joined Gaurisagar Higher Secondary Industrial Institute and got superannuation in 1991. He was loved and respected by the people due to his amicable behaviour.

Various organizations like Sivasagar Zila Xahitya Xabha, Dikowmukh Xakha Xahitya Xabha, Dikhowmukh Press Club, Dikhowmukh College, Khanakhokora High School, Dikhowmukh Janajati High School, Gaurisagar Senior Citizen Forum, and AGP and BJP Dikhowmukh and Kawaimari Regional Committees condoled his demise and paid floral tribute. He is survived by three sons, including Jyotish Kakoty, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Dibrugarh, two daughters and a host of relatives.
