KOKRAJHAR, Oct 15: The first convention of tiol Federation of New States in India (NFNS) was held on October 14 and October 15 at Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, gpur in Maharashtra and concluded with a strong resolution of united movement for new states in India. Sources from the ABSU informed that the first tiol convention was attended by the leaders of parts of India demanding new states under the Constitution of India under articles 2 and 3. The leaders of Vidharva, Gorkhaland, Bundelkhand, Bodoland, Poorvanchal, Twipraland and Kukiland strongly took part and decided to fight unitedly across the country. The convention started with the lighting of the lamp followed by introducing the participating leaders and welcome address by Swapjit Sanyal, working president of Vidharva Rajya Agadhi.

Rakesh Boro, chief convener of PJACBM, Dhiren Boro, president of the NDFB (P), Pradeep Daimary, general secretary of UPPL and Pramod Boro, president of the ABSU were present. In their speeches, they explained the purpose for Bodoland state demand and pleaded for unity through the NFNS in the struggle for creation of new states in India.

Sources said the Bodoland movement leaders were hopeful that the tiol movement would garner support for the movement for Bodoland. “The struggle for Bodoland is a struggle for self-respect and identity to live with dignity within the territory of India, bifurcating from present Assam in the northern part of Brahmaputra,” the movement leaders said, adding that the representatives from Kukiland also attributed the unified movement at the all-India level with the NFNS until the statehood demand was resolved to bring an end to the atrocities and discrimition in the state of Manipur, thereby to exist with self-security and development as Kukiland.

The representative from Poorvanchal, Pankaj Kr. Jaiswal said that the Poorvanchal region received very little from the Government of India, which was why the people of the region were striving for a separate state. Raja Bhundella, Lok Sabha MP from Bundelkhand and NFNS executive president who is spearheading the statehood movement, asserted that the tiol level statehood movement would grow stronger in the days to come. He said this was an appeal to all the movement groups to unite and make the Government of India adopt a new state policy for creation of new States in the Parliament.

Vidharva leaders Niroop and Shreehari Anney laid stress on the movement by the Vidharva Rajya Aghadi and uniting with the tiol Federation of New States in India. In his speech Shreehari Anney, president of NFNS who is also spearheading the Vidharva Rajya Aghadi, said that all movement groups had to mount pressure on the Government of India for a policy framework to create new states in India.

The NFNS resolved to make political parties realize during elections the need for the political demand for new states in India; to be united and to identify the enemies for new state creation in the country; and to strongly assert the constitutiol provision to create new states by communicating with all parties and leaders to gain support in the Parliament for new state creation.
