While taking a stand against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, former Chief Minister and sitting MLA of Barhampur, PK Mahanta, his wife Dr Joyshree Goswami Mahanta and their son Shyamanta Kashyap stayed away from casting their votes.

On the other hand, BJP candidate for Nowgong HPC, Rupak Sarma, BJP MP and Union Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain, former Rajya Sabha MP and Congress leader Najreen Farukee and former Congress MLA of Sadar LAC, Dr Durlav Chamua exercised their franchise in their respective polling stations in Nagaon town. BJP candidate for Nagaon HPC, Rupak Sarma, while interacting with media persons here right after casting his vote, said that he would win with a record margin.

The entire process of voting in the constituency was apparently peaceful and no incident of violence was reported till filing of this report, except glitches in EVMs in some polling stations which delayed the polling. But the problem was solved immediately by the authority concerned and the EVMs were replaced.
