NRC: Ajmal to write to Centre

GUWAHATI, Feb 6: AIUDF chief Maula Badruddin Ajmal today said that the NRC updating work in the State is not progressing satisfactorily. Addressing a press conference here today, AIUDF chief Ajmal said the way the NRC update work is progressing; the process will never be completed in stipulated time. He said that the government is intentiolly delaying the update process. Ajamal said that he would write to Centre requesting to expedite the NRC update exercise.  Speaking on the eviction drive launched by the Government, he said that the government has violated the guidelines of NRC update by carrying out the eviction drive. “We have no issue with the eviction drive launched against the encroachers. But the evicted people have not been rehabilitated till today as a result of which these people are still living under open sky,” Ajmal said. He said as per NRC guideless no people can be evicted when the NRC update process is in progress.
