KALAIGAON/TANGLA, May 3: The final phase of NRC update process is going on in Udalguri. But local people as well as officials of the NRC centres have alleged lack of basic facilities in the centres. The National Register of Citizens (NRC) update process in Assam is nearing an end and work is underway on a war-footing to meet the June 30 deadline. The family tree verification is underway in Udalguri in several offices like Udalguri DC office, Circuit House, Inspection Bungalow and Block Development Office.
Meanwhile, the people visiting the centres and the investigating officers engaged in the month-long laborious exercise have expressed dissatisfaction at the ‘failure’ of the authority concerned in providing them basic facilities. People alleged that there is no drinking water facility in the NRC centres and no provision for even light refreshments. They have urged the authority concerned to take steps in this regard.
