NRC won’t affect Indo-Bangladesh Ties: Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka, Harsha Vardhan Shringla

AGARTALA Aug 4 : When the entire country is agog with the possible fall out of the National Register of Citizens in Assam, tension is brewing in the neighbouring country of Bangladesh as it is believed that majority of the left out 40 lakhs belong to that country. Though there is no official reaction till now the NRC has become the subject of wide discussion in Bangladesh and the Government of India also initiated a move to allay all apprehension from the mind of the general people.

Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka, Harsha Vardhan Shringla, had an interaction with senior journalists and editors on Friday when he said NRC will have no impact on the relation between the two neighbours. He described various issues related to NRC and said it is totally an internal issue of India and won’t have any impact on Bangladesh. He said both India and Bangladesh is very much concerned about each other’s sensitivities. He apprised the journalists about what is NRC and how it is being implemented.
