NRL appoints new medical director

NUMALIGARH, June 23: Dr Kabul Chandra Saikia has joined as Medical Director, VK NRL Hospital recently. He was accorded  a warm welcome by  NRL Magement and Hospital authorities.

A renowned  Orthopaedic Surgeon, Prof Saikia is a M.S. Ortho from PGIMER Chandigarh, W.H.O. Fellow (U.K.) and F.A.O.I. (Germany). Prior to his association with VK NRL Hospital, he held several prestigious assignments including the position of Principal cum Chief Superintendent, Gauhati Medical College & Hospital ; Prof. and Head, Dept. of Orthopaedics, Gauhati Medical College; Dean of Faculty of Medicine – Gauhati University; Advisor/Expert – Union Public Service Commission Interview Board; Inspector – Medical Council of India and Member, Guwahati University Court.

The 60 bedded VK NRL Hospital located within the NRL Township premises was established in the year 1997 by NRL and is run and maged by Vivekanda Kendra. Kanyakumari.  The multi-specialty Hospital caters to a wide range of patients from the nearby villages of Numaligarh and on an average treats and diagnoses 40,000 patients annually out of which  60% of the patients are from the surrounding villages. The hospital also carries out around 300 mobile medical camps annually in the nearby villages delivering health care services on the door steps of the under privileged. This was stated in a press release.
