NRL felicitates Mohuramukh School for brilliant performance
GUWAHATI, Dec, 30: The NRL under its CSR programme which espouses the cause of education, MD P Padmabhan presented a ‘Commendation Certificate’ to the Principal, teachers, staff and students of Mohuramukh High School located in the vicinity of the Refinery on December 26 for being the 2nd Best Performing School 2015 under the Company’s scholarship programme, stated a press release.
Also present on the occasion were NRL Director (Technical) SR Medhi, Director (Fince) SK Barua and NRL officials.
Director (Technical) S R Medhi addressed the gathering and highlighted the need for collaborative effort of students & their guardians along with school authorities for achieving sustaible success.
Mohuramukh High School, established in 1960, has been educating students of the interior areas around Mohuramukh and beyond. During 2015 HSLC examition, 27 students secured 1st division, out of which six students passed with distinction and four students got star marks. The school has 600 students mostly from the backward communities.
NRL has contributed an amount of Rs. 73.97 during 2015 under its three ongoing flagship scholarship schemes – Gyandeep, Prero & Drocharya—all of which are running since 2007. The total beneficiaries of the aforesaid scholarship schemes during this year have increased 33.64% over last year.
Under the “Gyandeep” scheme, meritorious students are offered scholarships so that they continue to excel in academics without having to worry about finces.
It is awarded every year to students from schools within 10 KM radius of the refinery passing out with first division in HSLC and HS examitions.
On the other hand, “Prero” encourages girl students of nearby schools by providing scholarship to the top three girl students on the basis of their results in the annual exams of Class VIII, IX and X. Schools performing well in HSLC exams are offered incentives through the “Drocharya” scheme whereby fincial aid is offered to Teachers’ Welfare Fund of the schools on the basis of number of students passing HSLC exams securing 1st division.
