NSCN cadre Zoneth Aier held by Jorhat Police

JORHAT: Jorhat Police apprehended one Zoneth Aier (32) from Morongiyal village under Mariani Police station along the Assam-Nagaland border and recovered a 9 mm pistol along with ammunition and a grenade from his possession, said police sources.

Zoneth Aier was one of the 16 members of the NSCN who were on the way to serve extortion notes to small tea growers and a tea company along the Assam-Nagaland border in Jorhat district. The arrest of Zoneth may give a new twist to the recent blank firing case and extortion demand to a Kolkata based tea company.
