Itanagar, July 4: Delivering a major blow to the NSCN (IM), security forces in Arunachal Pradesh busted three major camps of the outfit during a joint operation in Changlang district yesterday, defence sources informed.

A joint team of Assam Rifles and Army under the aegis of DAO division conducted successful operations at Motongsa village under Jairampur sub-division in the district resulting in destruction of three camps and a logistic dump of the rebel outfit, Kohima-based Defence Spokesman Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer informed in a statement. Based on specific intelligence about presence of cadres trying to terrorize and attempting extortion in and around the village, security forces launched a well-coordinated operation. During search of the thickly vegetated area the party located and destroyed three camps and a logistic base. The camps were being used by the outfit as base of operations and had allowed the group to increase their influence in the area, the spokesman said.

Destruction of the camps helped in alleviating the problem of extortion and harassment by the carders not only in Motongsa but also in Nampong and Miao circles of the district.
