Itanagar, June 24: Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh apprehended an over ground worker of the NSCN (IM) during an operation at Longding town in Longding district on Saturday.

Based on specific intelligence input regarding the cadre who was trying to terrorize and extort money from the denizens of the town, the Longding Battalion of Assam Rifles lauched an operation and apprehended the cadre, Kohima-based Defence Spokesman Col Shiranjeet Konwer informed.

On interrogation he admitted to being an active part of the banned outfit and has been actively involved in extortion activities in the district.

The Longding battalion under the aegis of Dao Division of the Indian Army has been carrying out relentless operations in south Arunachal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents and the apprehension would go a long way in creating fear among the anti national elements in the area, Konwer added.
