NSCN (K) cadre held in Arunachal Pradesh by Security forces

Itanagar: Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh have apprehended a cadre of the NSCN (K) from Chinghan Village in Tirap district.

Official sources from Khonsa, the headquarters of Tirap district on Wednesday informed that the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles on receipt of specific intelligence inputs, carried out an operation in the village on Monday night and apprehended the cadre.

The cadre was identified as Kijen Rangwang, a self-styled sergeant major of the outfit.

Opium and cash was also recovered from the rebel who was later handed over to police, the sources said. In the present heightened security situation, the Assam Rifles under the Dao Division of the Indian Army has been carrying out extensive operations in south Arunachal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents.

With the arrest of the cadre, the civil population in the area heaved a sigh of relief and appreciated the determined efforts of Assam Rifles for bringing peace and normalcy in the region, the sources added.
