Itagar, April 4: In its continued crackdown against underground activists, security forces in Aruchal Pradesh arrested an over ground worker of the NSCN (K) from a village near Margherita in Assam. Based on specific intelligence inputs, the Changlang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the Dao Division arrested Limham Jugli, an over ground worker of the outfit, from Lalpahar village near Margherita in Assam’s Tinsukia district last night, Defence spokesman Col Chiranjeet Konwer informed.
A point 22 pistol and five rounds of live ammunitions were recovered from his possession, the spokesman said adding that during interrogation, he admitted his active support to the banned outfit by threatening locals and carrying out extortion for the rebel group.
The security forces have been carrying out extensive operations in south Aruchal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents.
