NSCN (R) rebel held

Itagar, April 27: Security forces bbed a NSCN (R) cadre from Old Changlang village in Changlang district on Sunday.

Acting on intelligence input, the Jawans of Assam Rifles under the aegis of 25 Sector cordoned off the general area of Old Changlang and launched search operations which led to the apprehension of SS Sergeant Major nghap Jugli, 35, informed an official report here today.

A Chinese made 7.65mm pistol, 3 rounds and magazine were recovered from his possession.

The apprehended NSCN cadre was handed over to the Changlang Police Station and a case has been registered against him and further investigation launched, the report added. Meanwhile, Itagar Police on Tuesday morning recovered a dead body of one Sudip Das, aged around 40 years from an under-construction building near Hanuman Mandir at Ganga Market.

A case has been registered at Itagar Police Station.

Capital Complex SP in-charge P N Khrime informed that the body was found with multiple injuries and accordingly two persons have been detained in this connection and investigations were on to crack the case.
