NSCN rebels bbed

Itagar, Feb 24: Continuing its intense operation against insurgent outfits, security forces in Changlang district of Aruchal Pradesh apprehended two militants in the past 24 hours. The Jairampur Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of DAO Division arrested one self-styled cadre of NSCN (R) from Kharsang village in the district today, defence PRO Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer informed in a communiqué.

The arrested rebel identified as Sampit Kitman was apprehended based on specific intelligence inputs about his presence in the area and trying to terrorize and attempting forced extortion in Kharsang village. The battalion swiftly launched an operation and apprehended him with rcotics and blank extortion note. On interrogation, he admitted his allegiance to NSCN(R) and further divulged that he has been actively assisting and acting as Rajapio (linkman) for the organisation. In another operation the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles during an operation, apprehended Pansai Pansa, a self-styled Pvt of the NSCN (K) from Wakka village in Tirap district yesterday. A pistol and live ammunition were recovered from his possession. The security forces have been carrying out aggressive operations against ultras in three Eastern districts of the state mely Tirap, Changlang and Longding in the past few months. With the apprehension of the cadres, the security forces have tightened the noose around the groups, the communiqué added.
