Rabin Kataki

Rabin Kataki, former Principal of Hoonlal HS School, died around 6.30 am on Saturday at his residence at Tapoban, Rupaisiding. He was 82 and is survived by his wife and two sons.

Born in 1937 at Janji Tamulisiga village in Jorhat district, he had his early schooling in the village school. After obtaining his BA degree from JBCollege, Jorhat, he joined as an assistant teacher at Doomdooma Hoonlal High School (now Higher Secondary) in 1958 and retired as its principal in 1995 after serving as an illustrious teacher spanning over 37 years.

He was well connected with a number of social organizations like Doomdooma Sports Association (DSA), Doomdooma Namghar Samity, Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha. His death has cast a pall of gloom and was widely mourned by a number of organizations including the Doomdooma Press Club (DPC), Doomdooma Hoonlal HS School.
