Dr RK Mahanta

Dr. Ranendra Kumar Mahanta, renowned Urologist of the country and the first one in the entire North-East died in a local hospital on February 9 after a prolonged illness. He was 68. He leaves behind his wife, renowned Neurologist Dr. (Mrs.) Ajaya Mahanta, two sons Hemav Mahanta and Dr. Saurabh Mahanta, two daughter-in-laws, many grandchildren and a host of relatives and well-wishers. Dr. Mahanta was one of the very renowned Urologists in the country and was a very successful doctor. Dr. Mahanta was from Dihing mati Satra, mti of Sivasagar district. His death cast a pall of gloom among the doctors of the State.
