 Manorama Barua

Manorama Barua- a pious lady of Ward Number 8, Priti gar of Mangaldai town with a very soft heart and great simplicity in ture is no more. She has left for the heavenly abode on July 9 in a private nursing home in Guwahati. Till the evening of July 8, she was leading a healthy life with a cheerful mind. But all of a sudden, on that evening she suffered a massive stroke for which she was immediately shifted to a private nursing home in Guwahati where she breathed her last on the next morning.

Born to the family of eminent medical practitioner of high reputation Dr. Bogi Ram Barua and his wife Bineswari Barua of Guwahati in Sipajhar in 1943, she tied the nuptial knot with Hara th Barua of the same village who was an employee of the Post and Telegraph department. Though she completed her secondary education from BJ Girls High School in Sipajhar, late Manorama Barua following the footstep of her father got actively involved with Mahila Samiti and took a key role in creating women empowerment since her school days. She was also actively involved in the Assam Movement and also encouraged her son Hemanta Kumar Barua and Kumar Rakesh Barua to get actively associated with the All Assam Students Union (AASU). Much to the pain and suffering of this pious lady, her husband Hara th Barua passed away in 2009. Significantly on July 19 last, her 89 year old elder brother Dambaru Dhar Barua also passed away.

On this day of Adya Shraddha, I share the immense pain and sufferings of her three sons and one daughter and grand children including Jourlist Hemanta Kumar Barua at this hour of crisis. I also pray for the eterl peace of the departed soul.
