One beaten to death

JORHAT, July 14: Family dispute led to the death of Montu Gogoi (41) in broad daylight on Saturday near Regional Rice Research Station under Titabor police station. Police said Montu Gogoi frequently tortured his wife and two children due to which they left the house some weeks back. Jitu, who is the nephew of Montu’s wife, was working in his paddy field when he saw Montu coming towards his house. Jitu allegedly caught hold of Montu and started beating him following which he died on the spot near the Rice Research Station campus. Later, Jitu surrendered at Titabor police station.
