One dead in road mishap

DIBRUGARH, MARCH 30: One person succumbed to his injury following a major road mishap at Kanjikhowa under Chabua Police Station in Dibrugarh district on Monday. The incident occurred when a cycle rider, Ajoy Karmakar (18) was knocked by a Dibrugarh-bound Bolero car bearing registration no AS25D6370, in which Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti leader Akhil Gogoi was returning from Tinsukia along with his PSO and another party member, after attending a meeting. The police seized the Bolero car and took the driver of the vehicle, Arindam Gogoi into custody. The critically injured Karmakar succumbed to his injury on the way to Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh. However, Akhil Gogoi and his PSO left Dibrugarh for Jorhat to attend another meeting.
