One dead, several injured in road mishap

SHILLONG, April 29: A bus accident in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills claimed one life and causing injuries to 24 others. Among the injured minors were also included. The victim who died in the accident had boarded the bus from Selsella and has been identified as a 14 year old minor girl. According to police, the injured persons were shifted to Garobadha PHC. “But reportedly, doctors and driver of the ambulance were not present at the time. Following this, public of the area got angry and pelted stones at the ambulance,” police said. Later, the injured persons and the cadaver were shifted to Civil Hospital Tura. The bus (ML 08A–1046) turned turtle at Modhupara area of Garobadha due to alleged brake failure. The driver of the bus fled the accident scene.
