One dies of electrocution

TANGLA, Sept 19:  In yet another tragic death due to negligence on the part of the Power Department, a man in his early 40s lost his life after he came in contact with a live 440 V wire which was lying after being blown by the wind from a bamboo pole.

 Bambu Boro, a cultivator of Samekuchi village under Tangla PS of Udalguri, died while he was on his way from field at about 2.30 pm on Tuesday. He was rushed to Tangla CHC were he was declared brought dead. Talking to media persons, D. Hazarika, SDO(C) Bhergaon assured of ex-gratia compensation to the next kin of victim. The deceased leaves behind his wife, a son, daughter and his octogerian father. Samekuchi village has several such uuthorized service lines using bamboo poles or trees as poles. The APDCL field workers are also forced by some people in the remote areas to draw PVC lines without using the prescribed poles.
