One killed, 6 houses gutted in fra fire

Itagar, Feb 7: A minor girl charred to death in a devastating fire that broke out a Nyokum Lapang here on Friday night, while six houses were completely gutted in another fire mishap at fra in West Kameng district.

The girl has been identified as Ganga Subha (16), daughter of one Joy Bhadur Subha. The body after postmortem at RK Mission hospital has been handed over to the family for the last rites yesterday, Itagar Police Station OC T Bage said here today.

Three houses including two OBT and one SPT were affected by the fire. While the SPT house was partially burnt, the other two belonging to Taring Tarak and Taring Tado completely reduced to ashes.

This is the second fire incident in a gap of one week where three members of a family died at Bate village near here.

The All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) has expressed grave concern over repeated occurrence of fire accidents involving deaths. The union appealed to the Chief Secretary to order for an inquiry into the fire accident.

A report from West Kameng district informed that six houses were completely gutted in a devastating fire which broke out at fra recently.

The fire reportedly broke out when a child left a candle uttended. All belongings of the families were turned to ashes.

However, no loss of lives has been reported in the incident, the report added.
