Bokajan, Feb 21: A 30-year old man, Tenzing Tolma, was killed in police firing at Khatkhati along Assam-galand border after the Bolero which he was driving jumped over the check-post barricades prompting the police personnel manning the regular check-post to open fire on Tuesday morning.

As reported, the Bolero vehicle (As 23J 7554) heading towards Dimapur was first intercepted by a patrolling team of Bokajan Police but they failed to stop the speeding vehicle. The police team, on being suspicious of the movement, alerted the personnel manning the Khatkhati check-post to stop the vehicle. However, the driver tried to evade policemen and the vehicle did not stop at the barricade even after repeated attempts.

“We opened fire and the vehicle skidded off the road and hit a tree. The driver was hit by a bullet on the head and succumbed on the spot while his three accomplices sustained minor injuries. The arrested trio comprises Sun Sen of Alipur, West Bengal, Puspa Bahadur Chetry of Lakhimpur and Laxman Gurung of Zero, Aruchal Pradesh. The trio has confessed to have lifted the vehicle from Aruchal Pradesh,” said a police personnel.
