One killed in mysterious explosion in Udalguri

MANGALDAI, April 12:  The death of a petty scrap dealer in a mysterious explosion during the early hours of Sunday at his residence in Udalguri district has created sensation in the locality. The deceased has been identified as Ram Chandra Barman (48) of village Kalibari near Borjhar Ashram under Orang Police Station. As reported, this morning at about 6.15 am, the scrap dealer was trying to break open an iron pipe-like material which he purchased along with other scrap material in his door- to- door collection. Uble to break it open, he put the material on fire which immediately caused a blast, killing him on the spot. Three other persons also sustained injuries. Significantly the police from Rowta and Orang Police station reached the spot quite late and they were confused over the jurisdiction of the area However, one senior official of Udalguri district police took the initiative for investigation and sent the body to Udalguri Civil Hospital for post mortem.
