One killed in road accident

Doomdooma, May 2: Avinash Dutta (29), son of Prakash Dutta, Headmaster of Rupai High School, died in a tragic road accident when the Maruti 800 car he was driving had a head-on collision with a Hyundai i-10 car coming from the opposite direction near Gangabari under Makum Police Station on Tuesday.

Abinash, who was a promising entrepreneur, died on the spot. It is learnt that the passengers of the Hyundai i-10 were on the way to Dhola to see the Dhola-Sadiya Bhupen Hazarika Setu after enjoying a Bihu function on Monday night. While conveying condolence to the bereaved family, many socio-cultural and students’ organizations have demanded thorough enquiry into reckless driving on national highways leading to tragic accident, as per assurance given by newly-appointed Director General of Police (DGP), Kuladhar Saikia after taking charge on Monday.
