One trampled to death by wild jumbo

LAKHIMPUR, May 6: A man was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Kakoi reserve forest in Lakhimpur district on Sunday. The man was identified as Suren Bouri (65) of Line No. 15 of Joyhing Tea Estate. He had gone to the Salakhbari part of the reserve forest for some reason with two other persons around 9 am. At that moment, they came across a wild elephant which violently trampled Suren Bouri. His companions had a narrow escape.

Later, his body was recovered by police and sent to North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital for post-mortem. He is survived by his wife and a son along with a host of relatives.
