ONGC crude oil pipeline spillage

SIVASAGAR, April 25:  Following allegations and news coverage regarding crude oil spillage from an ONGC pipeline which has polluted a large area of Radhika Nagar area of Rupahibeel village under Sivasagar Revenue Circle, a joint inspection was conducted on Tuesday. The team, comprising Rupamjyoti Bora, DPO, DDMA, Sivasagar, Jayanta Dutta, Assistant Engineer, Pollution Control Board, Sivasagar and others during the time of the joint inspection noticed that there was no ongoing spillage and most of the crude oil affected soils had been removed.

The team also observed that some areas still remain to be cleaned. Since, no cleanliness activities from ONGC side had been noticed, the team urged the ONGC authority to clean the existing oil sludge over the soil before the monsoon for complete recovery from further damages.
