Oppn alliance in KHADC supports Village Administration Bill

SHILLONG, May 9: Three decisions have been taken today at the meeting organized by the opposition alliance in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and the People Democratic Forum (PDF) with the traditiol heads held at Jaiaw Shyiap Lumpyllon, community hall in the city today.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, PDF Chairman Pynshngain N Syiem said after various views and suggestion from the various Headmen and Sordars and in the presence of the KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM), Adelbert Nongrum a decision has been taken to continue the support for the Village Administration Bill (VAB) and that the state government should speed up matters to get the governor’s approval to make the VAB a law.

A decision has also been taken to write to the Executive Committee of the KHADC that issuing of certificates will be carried out by the Council since  the Headmen has no more authority and powers to issue any certificate till the matter is resolved, Syiem said. He also said as suggested by the traditiol heads to unite all the MDCs  both the Parliamentary Party Leader of PDF and ARPA will jointly convene  a meeting between all the thirty MDCs and after this meeting another meeting will be convene which will be participated  by all the MDCs and the Traditiol heads regarding the same issue very soon.
