Order under Section 144 CrPC promulgated

Shillong, Feb 17: The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills, has promulgated an Order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting sale as well as use of Pakka thread, Nylon Manjha and Chinese Manja made of synthetic materials, particularly in relation to kite flying.  The Order is necessitated to comply with the Order passed by the tiol Green Tribul regarding manjha particularly synthetic, glass coated and Chinese Manjha which are injurious to human beings, birds and equally disadvantageous to the environment. Moreover, the Forest and Environment Department, Government of Meghalaya  has issued directions/ guidelines on the prohibition of procuring, stocking, sale and use of nylon thread which is also called Chinese manjha and other synthetic thread coated with glass and such other harmful substances for kite flying. This Order comes into force with immediate effect until further orders.
