Ousted BJP Municipality Members of Dibrugarh Disappointed With Decision

A Correspondent

Dibrugarh: The 10 BJP members of the Dibrugarh Municipal Board (DMB), who were ordered to resign from their respective official positions on the grounds of alleged violation of party direction, expressed their displeasure over the decision so taken. The members denied having caused any violation and said that they simply registered their opposition against the corruption going on in DMB. They further considered it strange that on the one hand Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was envisaging and working towards a corruption-free Assam, and on the other hand, they were facing the music for taking a strong stand against the very evil.

Speaking about Dr Saikat Patra, Ward Commissioner of Ward Number 13, who despite being part of the 11-member group which passed a no-confidence motion against the chairperson of DMB, remained off the hook, the members hinted at a possible rapprochement that kept him out of the decision’s ambit.
