Over 1 lakh saplings planted

JOYSAGAR, April 3: Under the Shayamali Charaideo project, the Charaideo district administration planted over one lakh saplings in and around the Abhaipur Reserve Forest, Deeli Reserve Forest, Challa Reserve Forest and Sori Sadar area recently. Charaideo Deputy Commissioner Bibekanda Phukan iugurated the programme by planting a sapling in Abhaipur Forest and he was accompanied by the Forest Man Jadav Payang, ture activist Jainul Abiden, Sori MLA Tapan Gogoi, Jorhat LS MP Kamakhaya Tasa and members of the Dibru-Chaikhowa ture Conservation Society members. All the guests also planted saplings. Jorhat MP Kamakhya Tasa in his speech thanked the Charaideo administration for taking steps to preserve the environment. Awareness and persol responsibility are both the same and two sides of the same coin, said MP Tasa. Hundreds of local clubs, social groups and ture lovers also took part in the programme where over one lakh tree saplings were planted within hours and it was a record in itself made by the Charaideo district administration with the help of civic bodies.
