Over 700 students participate in OilCon Walk

DIGBOI, Feb 5: The Health Safety and Environment department of IOCL (AOD) Digboi organized the annual OilCon Walk under the banner of SAKSHAM, 2017 recently in Digboi as part of the celebration of the ongoing  oil and gas conservation fortnight.

The walk, which was aimed at spreading the significant message of oil and gas conservation under the event of SAKSHAM, 2017, was flagged off by H S Dutta GM (TS&HSE) from Bihutoli and concluded with the assembly of the participants in the Jubilee playground. The significant event witnessed an overwhelming participation of more than 700 students belonging to 18 different schools of the historic oil town Digboi. Meanwhile, dignitaries including Mritunjoy Pramanik, the ED (AOD), H S Dutta GM (TS&HSE) and L N Phukan, GM (T) graced the event, besides the employees of the corporation and school staff members.

School children put in sincere efforts in this event shouting slogans and displaying placards and banners to effectively spread the message of the event, centering round creating awareness among the people in respect to the growing importance of conservation and judicious utilization of oil and tural gas –a non-renewable resource.

Mritunjoy Pramanik gave away prizes to DPS Digboi, Carmel School and Rashtriya Vidyalaya for securing first, second and third positions respectively in the OilCon Walk.
