Overground ULFA (I) Member Deben Hazarika Arrested in Army Operation

Sepon: In a major setback to ULFA (I) activities in Upper Assam, the Dao Division of the Army arrested a ULFA(I) cadre Deben Hazarika from Sepon in Upper Assam.

A joint operation launched by the 9th Batallion of Rajputana Rifles and Moran police at wee hours of the day on 17th July led to the arrest of Deben Hazarika.

The Army had received specific intelligence inputs from own sources regarding the movement of Over Ground Worker of ULFA (I) in areas of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.

58-years old Deben Hazarika is the son of Late G Hazarika who was arrested with a 9 mm Pistol and one magazine with five live rounds on 17th, while moving on Sepon-Demow road on his Bajaj Discover motorcycle.

Deben Hazarika was actively involved in a number extortions and anti-national activities on behalf of the proscribed outfit. This information provided by the apprehender may seem to be vital towards the conduct of numerous successful operations against ULFA (I) in near future.
