Padyatra, Sapling Plantation undertaken In Itanagar

ITANAGAR: The Department of Environment and Forests on Wednesday celebrated the World Environment Day with the flagging off a ‘Padyatra’ (rally) which started from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) office to IG Park, here.

PCCF Lalram Thanga flagged off the ‘Padyatra’ which was attended by around 200 students from various educational institutions of the capital. There was sapling plantation by students, teachers and officers of the Department at the IG Park premises.

Around 300 tree saplings was provided to the school students for plantation in their respective schools under the monitoring of the teacher in-charge which if well nurtured would be given awards in the coming years as marks of appreciation. The event was coordinated by Deputy Director of Environment and Climate Change Dohu Robin, along with his team members. All the officers and field staffs of PCCF office actively participated at the function.

On the occasion, PCCF Thanga distributed certificates and prizes among the winners of a drawing- and-painting competition in both the senior and junior categories of the participating five schools with the Capital complex that was held earlier on June 3. The theme of the competition organized by the Department of Environment and Forests was ‘Air Pollution’.
