Painting workshop commemorates in Itanagar on Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary

ITANAGAR: A three-day workshop on painting commemorating the 150 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is being held at Siddhartha hall, Itanagar.

The workshop is organised by Northeast Zone Cultural Center, Dimapur in collaboration with Department of Art & Culture, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

Artist from capital, Itanagar along with students from the Department of Fine Arts, Rajiv Gandhi University is participating in the three day long workshop. The workshop is basically to disseminate the ideas and philosophy of Gandhiji to the public in the form of creative arts.

Speaking to this daily one of the student Artist from Indira Kala Sangit Vishwa Vidyalaya, Chattisgarh Jackie Bodo said that, it’s very good initiative by the Department of Art and Culture to bring in front the creativity of student artist of state.

“As the workshop commemorate the birth anniversary of Gandhiji, all the artist present are working on putting the ideas of Gandhiji in the form of art in the canvas,” Jackie said.

When asked about the scope of fine arts in the state, Jackie said that it has great scope in the state like Arunachal Pradesh. But one can also not deny that the people are not much aware of its importance.

There are many good artist in the state and to take it to another level a department of fine arts has been recently established in Rajiv Gandhi University.
