Pakistan, Sri Lanka sign MoUs for bilateral cooperation

Islamabad, Jan 5: Pakistan and Sri Lanka on Tuesday signed eight memoranda of understanding (MoU) on the sidelines of Prime Minister waz Sharif’s visit to Sri Lanka. The MoUs and agreements for cooperation in the fields of health, education, trade, science and technology, tourism, and gems and jewellery were signed during delegation-level talks between the two countries, Dawn online reported. Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirise warmly received Sharif and his wife Kulsoom waz. Sharif said his visit to Sri lanka “is a testimony to strong bonds of friendship between our two countries”. He said Pakistan was keen to follow its goal of increasing bilateral trade volume with Sri Lanka to $1 billion. Both the countries will jointly work to curb money laundering, he said. Sirise for his part said political disturbances in Pakistan were being elimited under Sharif’s leadership. (IANS)
