Pala rules out discussing political issues during party in Delhi

SHILLONG, Feb 9: Congress MP Vincent H Pala admitted that he hosted a dinner for the Congress legislators at his Shillong residence last week but denied any political agenda behind it.

Pala known as a political adversary of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma told The Sentinel over phone from New Delhi, “Yes I hosted a dinner for all the Congress MLAS (including the associated members) of my constituency but it has nothing to do with politics. There were also three pressmen in the party and you can ask them”.  “It was a house warming dinner to memorialize the partial completion of my Nongrim Hills House,” stated the Shillong MP.

On being asked about the timing of the party, Pala said, “I will host similar party for other legislators and jourlists in the coming days for the same purpose.” He urged not to create any political insinuations from the dinner party.  At least three Congress legislators known as close associates of Chief Minister Sangma were not seen in the party, informed a source.

Pala’s strong statement that the present Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the KHADC P.N Syiem is a victim of the people in power, the dinner has generated certain political insinuations in the state. Moreover, asked on the tentative arrival of the AICC General Secretary V rasamy in the state to address the bitter tussle between Sangma and Syiem, the Shillong MP feigned ignorance.
