Pallav guides Assam to victory

GUWAHATI, Jan 4: Assam registered first win in the Syed Mushtaq Ali cricket tourment beating Goa by four wickets in a well contested game held at Vadodora today. Chasing 133 runs to win, Assam reached the target in 19.3 overs with four wickets in hand. Pallav Kumar Das(44), who didn’t open today and came to bat in middle order, played a good knock guided Assam to victory.

Assam openers once again gave worst start to the team as both Arun Karthick and Swarupam Purkayastha, who opened the innings, failed to score a run. However, Pallav played with a lot of confidence and took just 29 balls to score 44 runs with the help of four boundaries and two sixes. Amit Verma (21) and tailenders gave good support to him .Earlier invited to bat, Goa scored 7-132 in their 20 overs. Swapnil Asnodkar and S ndekar contributed 24 runs each on the board. Abu Nechim Ahmed, Mrinmoy Dutta and Syed Mohammed picked up 2 wickets each. Assam will now face Delhi in their next game on Wednesday
