Panchayat Polls: Many AGP workers join Congress

JAGIROAD: Ahead of the panchayat polls, the AGP received a jolt after several AGP workers went ahead and joined the Congress.

In a meeting of the Jagiroad Congress Committee held recently at Rajiv Bhavan here, AGP workers Jayanta Konwar, Pritirekha Das, Mainul Islam and BJP worker Dipti Das joined the Congress.

The meeting was presided over by Jagiroad block Congress Committee president Harilal Das and attended by Morigaon district Congress Committee general secretary Hafijur Rahman, Jagiroad Youth Congress Committee president Abu Atahar Siddik, and other leaders. Morigaon AGP sources said that Jayanta Konwar and Pritirekha Das were expelled from the AGP following a breach of party decorum.
