Pandemonium in UP Assembly over gang-rape, law and order

Lucknow, Feb 16: The Uttar Pradesh assembly on Tuesday erupted into noisy protests by the opposition against the gang-rape and killing of a college girl in the state capital. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Congress legislators raised slogans against the state government, alleging breakdown in law and order, and walked out of the house.
The Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) MLAs also joined in shouting slogans against the Samajwadi Party (SP) government and called for strict action against police officials on whose watch the gang-rape and murder — as well as other heinous crimes — have been taking place.
The decomposed body of a girl, studying in class 12th, was recovered from the thickets near Lohia Path here, close to the residence of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and the office of the director general of police. The girl had disappeared five days ago while on her way to school. Her family members alleged that the police failed to act in time. (IANS)
