Panel formed to study creation of engineering wing: Tuki

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

ITAGAR, July 13: Aruchal Pradesh Chief Minister bam Tuki today informed that the State government has constituted a committee headed by Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Cho Mein to recommend whether to create engineering wings in non-engineering departments or to create a separate infrastructure development department. Responding to a supplementary raised in the Assembly during question hour by Congress member Wangki Lowang, Tuki said that three non-engineering departments including Sports & Youth Affairs, Education and Tourism have created their own engineering wings on the basis of workload of civil works as they are getting huge works under centrally sponsored and State plan schemes.  “Earlier, the PWD execute such schemes as deposit works and used to take the works as secondary causing delay for which engineering wings are created,” the chief minister informed. Responding to BJP member Tage Taki’s supplementary on proposal for modalities for such a department (infrastructure development), Tuki said that the committee would submit its report during the current session of the assembly. Speaker bam Rebia, however, ruled not to create more departments where promotion became the main objective and suggested restriction on department creation.
