Lima, Nov 10: The first group of nine soccer players of Paraguay’s tiol team have arrived here and they will wait for the rest of their teammates ahead of the upcoming World Cup Russia 2018 South America Qualifiers match against Peru on Friday (November 13).

The delegation, led by Argentinian coach Ramon Diaz, that arrived here on Monday morning, includes Anthony Silva, Gustavo Gomez, Bruno Valdez, Jothan Santa, Jothan Fabbro, Rodrigo Rojas, Alfredo Aguilar, Juan Patino and Richard Ortiz, reports Xinhua.

The other 16 team members will arrive in the Peruvian capital city between Tuesday and Wednesday.

“The group is good. The most important thing is that they are convinced about what we want and we know about the importance of the matches that we are going to play and not only the match in Lima. We are very confident and hope to get good results,” Diaz told local media.

The group, who are staying in a hotel in Lima’s Historic Centre, will carry out their first training session at the Alejandro Villanueva Stadium on Monday evening.

Paraguay go into Friday’s match undefeated after the first two matches of the qualifiers. They won away from home against Venezuela and also drew at home with Argenti. Peru began their training on Monday morning and are hoping to win against Paraguay after being defeated while visiting Colombia and at home to Chile. IANS
