Parait elected JHADC CEM

SHILLONG, April 1: Moonlight Parait of United Democratic Party (UDP) MDC of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC),  has once again retained the position of Chief Executive Member (CEM) in the district council, after the three MDCs switched allegiance to the UDP.
According to sources within the council, the three MDCs from the Congress had resigned and joined the United Democratic Party (UDP).
With the joining of the three Congress MDCs the strength of the UDP in JHADC stands at 10 members in the House of 30 members.
The political parties which are supporting the Executive Committee of the JHADC led by Moonlight Parait include 10 UDP members, tiol People’s Party (NPP) with 11 members and a lone BJP member.
However, at present there are 8 members in the Opposition in the JHADC and all are from the Congress. Moonlight Pariat of UDP has been elected as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) unopposed. He has the support of 18 MDCs.
