Paris 2024 committee launches mobile app for athletes

Paris, April 12: Paris bid committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games “Paris 2024” announced on Monday that a mobile application has been launched to eble athletes to engage with the bid.

Paris 2024 expect the app, which will target 15,000 sports stars across France, to act as a platform for athletes to contribute their insights, ideas and suggestions to the bid, Xinhua quoted a press release as saying. The easy-to-use app will feature several functiolities, including an option for athletes to “have a say” in the Paris 2024 bid process, a “Discover Paris 2024” section that will outline the overall Games concept, a game centre and a news and events functiolity which will provide push notifications to athletes alerting them to the latest bid news.

It will be available for free on android and iOS, as an intertiol version of the app is in progress and will be available in English in the coming months.

“We are delighted to launch the Athletes’ App that will align us even closer with athletes who know what it takes to live and breathe major sporting events,” said Paris 2024 co-chairman Tony Estanguet. “Athletes are the heartbeat of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and it is vital that we draw up on their experience and knowledge as we continue to build our bid centred on innovation, inspiration and communication,” he added.
