Parts of city to be without water

Shillong, April 2: Parts of Shillong city will be without water till Tuesday evening, authorities said on Monday. According to a statement issued by the Superintending Engineer (PHE), Greater Shillong Circle, due to breakdown of the 750 mm diameter CI Gravity main of Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme at Lumsohriew (near Lad Mawreng) on the morning of April 1, water supply in the city will be affected till the evening of April 3. The areas which will be affected during the said period are Shillong Municipal Board areas, Shillong Cantonment Board areas, Nongthymmai and Mawlai. “Every effort is being made to complete the repair works for restoration of normal water supply by the evening of April 3,” authorities said.
