‘Party Failed To Make Masses Aware of CAB’ Says Tarun Gogoi

GUWAHATI: The Congress has failed to take the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) to the grass-root level.

Ex Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi admits that the Congress party failed in their attempt to take the CAB to the grass-root level along with any other indigenous groups or organizations. “We were unable to comprehend the impact of the bill in the rural areas. Most of the rural people have no clue about the bill despite the massive agitation across the state. Only a section of the people in Assam are aware about it”, said Tarun Gogoi.

Criticizing BJP National President Amit Shah’s remark about completing the NRC process only after CAB implementation, Tarun Gogoi said that the proposition is both undemocratic and irresponsible. He claimed that with the massive protests against the bill, the question is now about the prestige of Assam. Gogoi slammed Shah for neglecting the people of Northeast and toying with the sentiments of the people.

“At present, the Sonowal government is one of the most corrupt governments in the history of Assam. Under the shelter of this government, the corruptions and syndicates are blossoming. Not only the Chief Minister, but also the ministers under him and their departments have become corruption hubs”, said Gogoi while enquiring why the government failed to arrest the brother of Rakesh Pal in connection with the infamous APSC cash-for-job scam. He concluded by affirming that the Congress party will win more than 8 seats in this year’s Lok Sabha polls.
