Pasighat municipal authorities take steps to be garbage-free city

PASIGHAT: Fulfilling a long pending demand of denizens, the Pasighat municipal authorities have decided to start door-to-door garbage collection daily in the morning. In this regard, a MoU has been signed between the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) and Donyi Aane, an NGO. The drive would be implemented in both residential and commercial areas free on a trial basis for the month of April and then a nominal ‘user charge’ would be collected from May onwards.

The programme was formally kicked off on Wednesday by the DC-cum-administrator Dr Kinny Singh in presence of the Director, Town Planning Sukhvinder Singh, ADC Tatdo Borang and EE PMC, Kipa Gagung.

Dr Singh in her address stated that the PMC would try to fulfill the demands of the citizens, but people should also understand that cleanliness is the responsibility of every citizen and not just the PMC.

Littering ones own place hampers the image of the centurion city, opined the DC adding that an initiative named “My waste-My Responsibility” is being initiated with the help of Donyi Aane. Under this initiative, any person interested in handing over solid waste to the PMC may call 9366606517 and the waste would be collected from his/her doorstep within an hour. She advised the citizens to use this service judiciously and help the PMC in making Pasighat a clean and garbage-free city.
