Paswan favours President's Rule in Bihar

New Delhi, May 16: Claiming that “political murders and lawlessness” have become the order of the day in Bihar, union minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Monday demanded President’s Rule in the state. “There has been a constitutiol breakdown in the state,” Paswan told reporters here. “Political murders and lawlessness are common features in Bihar these days. Under the given situation, it appears as if select politicians are involved in these incidents. That is why police cannot conduct fair investigation,” he added.

Paswan, who is also president of the Lok Janshakti Party, hit out at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Jata Dal chief Lalu Prasad. Lawlessness, particularly cases of rape and robbery, has “crossed all records” since the Grand Alliance government came to power in Bihar in November 2015, the food and public distribution minister said. He said a LJP delegation met Home Minister Rajth Singh and President Prab Mukherjee last week and handed over a memorandum to demand President’s Rule in Bihar. Paswan also supported the growing demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the murder of a businessman’s teeged son in Gaya. “The Bihar Police is deliberately not conducting a fair inquiry in the murder of Aditya Sachdeva in Gaya,” he alleged.
