Patanjali Row: Baba Ramdev Apologizes Over Yoga Instructor’s Disgraceful Comments on Srimanta Shankardeva

Guwahati: Following the uproar over comments made by a yoga instructor of Patanjali on Vaishnavite Saint Srimanta Shankardeva, Baba Ram Dev today personally apologized and assured that the yoga instructor has been expelled with immediate effect.

In his apology made today, Baba Ramdev said that the comments made by the instructor are not acceptable and that Barale has been expelled from Patanjali with immediate effect.

Furthermore, the yoga guru added in his apology that Srimanta Shankardev is not only a social-religious reformer and a figure of importance in the cultural and religious history of Assam but entire India.

“Patanjali respects all the Saints and Scholars and religious figures of the country and Patanjali have been framed so that it creates a negative impression in the mind of the Assamese people, Baba Ramdev remarked.

He further expressed his sorrow over the entire fiasco saying that the comments made by Barale were his own and that Patanjali has nothing in this. He was making completely personal statements in this regard.

It may be mentioned that Satinath Barale on September 28, during a yoga camp session at Darang’s Duni village commented that Srimanta Shankardev isn't a saint and there is nothing spiritual about the Namghar’s in Assam. The use of mustard oil in the Namghar of Assam is sheer stupidity.

Following these comments that incited a deep resentment, massive protests were carried out against the yoga preacher and Patanjali after his disgraceful comments.

Following the escalated tension regarding such disgraceful comments on the great Vaishnavite saint, Patanjali officials and Srimanta Shankardev Yuva Manch had an elusive meeting at Patanjali Yoga Training center located at Mirza on Sunday.

An apology was asked from the Patanjali officials, where an apology statement was made regarding this by Baba Ramdev where they assured not to hurt the sentiments of Assamese people in the future.
